Meet one of our Local Guides, Sue Tarelli

What led you to become part of the Suburban Settlers team?

I am a stay at home mom and was interested in returning to work part time was difficult.  I have a background and am currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey but shift work wasn’t as flexible for the needs of my family.  Suburban Settlers is that fit!  The hours are flexible and I love connecting with new families in the area!  It is so rewarding to see a client settle into our community with ease. My husband and I moved here 3 1/2 years ago with no connections to the area. I only wish I had Suburban Settlers to guide us!

How does your knowledge about Union and Morris Counties and New Jersey help your clients?

When we moved here I didn’t even know where the grocery store was.  Building this knowledge and being able to pass it on to families relieves so much undo stress. Being that resource to hour clients is key to decreasing the stress and anxiety of moving to a new area.  We all know change is hard!

What is your favorite part about being a local guide?

I am a people person! I love meeting new families and welcoming them to the area.  I enjoy sharing my love of our community and giving the “inside scoop” to clients.  It truly is so rewarding to help clients find their “home base” with the resource of Suburban Settlers.

Do you have any advice for individuals and families who are planning a move to the NY Metropolitan area?

Yes!  This area of New Jersey is a HIDDEN GEM!   We are definitely a suburb with the offerings of NYC living just a couple of miles away.  The downtown areas are bustling, yet the neighborhoods are quaint with some of the best school districts in the area!  Raising children in an area that is so focused on community is a must! Plus, it is such an easy commute into NYC so city life is at your fingertips!  With multiple train stations and bus routes the options are endless!
